Weight Loss Fads:What Is a Fad?
A fad is something which is popular for a short period but then loses its appeal. Fad diets often result in quick weight loss, which is why they become popular, but do not promote the permanent healthy lifestyle changes that are required to maintain weight loss, which is why they lose appeal.
Ways which should not be followed to loose weight:
People who are making effort to lose weight naturally want to see fast results. When a
person loses weight quickly, a lot of lean tissue is lost along with fat tissue. The loss of lean tissue causes a decrease in the rate at which calories are burned at rest. In order to prevent the above, weight loss should be not more than one to two pounds a week. When one restricts their carbohydrate consumption, they lose not only glycogen, but also water. When you start eating carbohydrates again, you will experience an immediate weight gain of about five to seven pounds. People on low carbohydrate diets can lose weight, if they consume fewer calories than they burn, but a low carbohydrate diet may not be safe for the rest of their lives. Weight loss products work as long as the individual consumes fewer calories than they burn. One such product requires that you take their product three hours before sleep, and you aren't allowed to eat anything after taking the product. People lose weight with this product because they stop eating at night. Other weight loss supplements contain ingredients like ephedrine, or Ma Huang, which has been associated with irregular heart beat and some deaths. You should always ask a physician before taking any weight loss supplement. A changed lifestyle including healthy eating habits and increased activity that leads to taking in fewer calories than are burned is necessary for weight loss. And it has to be maintained to keep the weight off. Each person needs to find a healthy way to eat. Here are some ways to determine that a weight loss plan is a fad. If it promotes quick weight loss. One has to limit food choices. If it claims to be fast, easy and work for everyone. If one has to purchase costly supplements. If it does not promote permanent change and one does not have to work out for weight reduction.
Conclusion:
Questions about weight loss plan should be asked to a healthcare professional. Changing lifestyle habits is difficult and needs support.
